History of Street-Legal Drag Racing, 1949 to 2013 – HOT ROD Unlimited
It’s been the core of grassroots hot rodding since the very beginning: you’re on the street with your car, another rodder pulls alongside, and you go at, drag racing to see who has the quicker ride. Illegal street racing found its way to sanctioned tracks as early as 1949, and that’s when street-driven cars began to morph into pure race cars. Yet for 65 years, hot rodders have remained interested in real street-driven cars that are also fast on the strip. In this episode of HOT ROD Unlimited, David Freiburger traces the history of street-legal drag racing, with insider information on the development of the Fastest Street Car Shootout in the ’90s, the HOT ROD Pump Gas Drags in the mid-2000s, and the current challenges facing HOT ROD Drag Week. by MotorTrend

World’s Greatest Wagon? – /BIG MUSCLE
Sometimes old cars break, it’s just what happens. While some may see this as an inconvenience, we here at /BIG MUSCLE took it as an opportunity to expand our horizons, take a chance, and venture to a place we rarely frequent – the drag strip. Our plan was to film, talk to and get an idea of what racers go through when they run their cars down the 1,320. Everything was going great, until that is, they told us WE could race. We showed up in our 1992 Chevrolet Caprice wagon, aka, the Battle Wagon, so we knew we weren’t going to set any records. What we weren’t prepared for though, was the amount of fun we’d have running one of the slowest vehicles on the planet, at one of the fastest places in Northern California. by /DRIVE
